Helping individuals with disabilities realize full lives according to their hopes and dreams

Center for Independent Futures
For individuals with disabilities and their families, life after high school graduation can be a frustrating time. After all, the majority of high school graduates go on to pursue higher education while individuals with disabilities go home to their bedrooms and face social exclusion, financial hardship, and denial of basic citizenship. But it doesn’t have to be that way. People with disabilities are entitled to and deserve a full, meaningful life.

Center for Independent Futures is a not-for-profit organization that helps individuals with disabilities and their families access the skills and opportunities to realize full lives. We create products and services to establish sustainable solutions through community living options, personal networks, lifelong planning and education. In addition to our direct work with individuals and their families, our best practice models are used in family groups, agency and educational settings impacting many lives.

Center for Independent Futures: 2012 Bike The Drive

Support CIF in our first ever Bike the Drive!

Center for Independent Futures is proud to announce its official charity partnership with MB Financial Bike the Drive in 2012. On May 27th, 2012 at 5:30 a.m., bikers representing CIF’s Dream Team will join thousands of other bikers to bike up to 30 miles on Lakeshore Drive.

MB Financial Bike the Drive is the one day of the year when the length of Lake Shore Drive is open to cyclists and closed to auto traffic. CIF is excited to be one of the first non-profits to form an official team in the event’s Charity Partners program. The Dream Team’s bikers have committed not only to participating in the Bike the Drive event, but also to raising funds for Center for Independent Futures. Anyone who would like to make a contribution to the Dream Team can do so on the Dream Team Fundraising Page.

Our team is still growing! If you would like to join CIF’s Dream Team as a rider, an event day volunteer or committee member please contact Jan Walch at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 847.328.2044.
