Nevada Child Seekers

Charity of the Month: Nevada Child Seekers

Missing and abducted are two words that no parent wants to hear about their child. According to the Nevada Office of the Attorney General Missing Children’s Clearinghouse there are over 7,000 children reported missing each year in Nevada. More than 200 of the children are considered “endangered” by law enforcement and over 100 are missing involuntarily.

Nevada Child Seekers has been providing hope, help and support to address the plight of missing children in Nevada for 25 years now. Nevada Child Seekers omission is to advocate for and engage in prevention, identification and location efforts on behalf of missing and exploited children. Although a small organization, we act as a catalyst for the community allowing them to help address this issue that faces communities across the United States.

From providing search assistance to families of missing children, providing child ID packets, providing abduction and exploitation prevention education to thousands each year to maintaining a trained emergency volunteer search force used by law enforcement, the organization is working each day to protect Nevada’s children.

Programs include:

  • Case Management – search assistance for families of missing children with an International network of partners in public and private industries.
  • Shout Out Loud – Introduction to child safety for students in K-2nd grades.
  • radKID’s™ Personal Empowerment Program – 10-hour safety program for children 5-13 years of age teaching them skills on avoiding and escaping dangerous situations to include but not limited to abduction, bullying, child abuse and Internet exploitation.
  • NetSmartz™ Internet Safety – in collaboration with the Las Vegas Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce we deliver classes on Internet safety for age appropriate audiences as well as for parents and school administrators.
  • Emergency Volunteer Search Force – Volunteers who have completed a criminal background check are trained and are on call when law enforcement need to activate a search force to gather leads on known endangered missing children cases.

The education programs reach over 13,000 students and we are able to assist 200-350 families in the search for missing children.
