About:
The Traditional Medicine of East Asia is a wealth of knowledge that provides relief from illness and increased health today, as it has for hundreds of years.  Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, and Shiatsu, while different in their application, all share the intent to bring the body into balance and return your health to its highest potential.

Acupuncture is a method of treatment using hair-thin needles to tap into the body’s innate healing mechanisms.  It is endorsed by the World Health Organization to treat a number of conditions, including pain, depression, and high blood pressure.

Herbal Medicine utilizes plant, mineral, and animal substances to nourish the body and relieve illness.  Herbal Medicine is highly customized to treat each person’s symptoms, as well as constitutional characteristics, in order to bring about lasting changes.

Shiatsu clients report an increased sense of wellbeing and renewal during sessions. The work is deeply relaxing and can be helpful for those suffering from physical discomfort and pain, internal disorders, such as difficult digestion, or psycho-emotional issues, such as anxiety or insomnia.  Shiatsu incorporates ideas from traditional Chinese medicine and massage traditions of Japan.  Pressure with palms, fingers, elbows and knees combines with assisted stretches, to address the body as a whole.

About Ashley:
Ashley Flores is a licensed Acupuncturist, nationally certified Chinese herbalist, and certified Shiatsu practitioner.  She studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and Bodywork at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, graduating with a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine and a certificate of Asian Bodywork Therapy. She continued her education at Zen Shiatsu in Evanston, earning a certificate of Zen Shiatsu.

While at Pacific College, Ashley learned numerous approaches to using touch, acupuncture, and botanical medicine for healing, and techniques for treating pain, internal disorders, and mental-emotional imbalances.

In addition to her private practice, Ashley is also the Coordinator of Prescription Services at Inner Ecology, a botanical pharmacy and prescription service in Chicago, and an instructor in Chinese Medicine Theory at Zen Shiatsu in Evanston.
